1. The Corinthians had once followed mute idols. Now they are to follow the Holy Spirit. What is consistent about the gifts (verse 4), the ministries (verse 5), and the activities (verse 6)?

 

 

2. Were these gifts given to personally benefit the individuals that the Holy Spirit manifested Himself in, or was there another reason they were given?

 

 

3. Please make a list of the gifts mentioned in verses 8-10.

 

 

 

4. Who determined how these gifts were distributed?

 

 

5. Paul teaches a doctrine of "teamwork" in verses 12-27 with regard to the body (church). Please explain in general how this works.

 

 

 

6. Is one part of the body to be esteemed above another? Please list the reference from 1 Corinthians 12 and other scriptures to back up your answer.

 

 

 

7. How does one get into that body and become a member of it?

 

 

 

8. In comparing the church to a human body, how should this help us appreciate our differences more?

 

 

9. How should 1 Corinthians 12 help us shape our attitudes toward those members who seem to be weaker or less important?

 

 

10. How could viewing the Lord's body (church) in this way have helped the Corinthians with the problems of contentions and divisions that were among them? How can we make personal application of this?

 

 

 

11. In verses 28-30 Paul makes mention of various members with spiritual gifts. Why do you think that he tells the Corinthians to desire the best (greater) gifts in verse 31?
